Maddie Marchant, 22, proudly represents the Commonwealth as Miss Virginia. A native of Lebanon, Virginia, she is a senior at East Tennessee State University pursuing a degree in media & communication with a minor in political science. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a broadcast journalist dedicated to expanding news coverage and access for underrepresented voices, particularly in rural America.
Inspired by her own experiences, Marchant created InvisABILITY: Helping Those with Invisible Disabilities & Diseases Feel Seen, a statewide initiative that encourages understanding, compassion and advocacy for individuals living with invisible conditions.
Through her "Now You See Me" photography campaign, podcast and more than 50 classroom presentations, she has educated thousands of students while earning national recognition through Global Game Changers. Her passion for serving others also led her to raise more than $20,000 to purchase an accessible van for her best friend, Riley, and establish a $3,000 emergency veterinary fund at Virginia Highlands Animal Hospital.
An entrepreneur, Marchant is the founder of Glam-by-Maddie, a full-service makeup artistry business that has secured brand ambassadorships with four national and small-business brands. Onstage, she showcases her energetic clogging skills.
Outside of competition, Marchant is a sixth-generation cattle farmer, Special Olympics volunteer, amateur pet photographer and proud godmother to a little girl with a limb difference. She has studied abroad in France, Spain and Monaco, enjoys classic "dad rock" music, and is a devoted Twilight Saga fan with a collection of Twilight Barbie dolls who has met nearly the entire cast.
Living with celiac disease has taught Marchant the importance of maintaining physical, mental and emotional wellness through fitness, nutrition, journaling and intentional self-care. As Miss Virginia, she is committed to ensuring every individual feels seen, every voice is heard and every community has access to the information and opportunities it deserves.
Miss Virginia ABC School Tour
Miss Virginia and local titleholders volunteer about 2,000 hours per year in their local communities. Miss Virginia speaks to over 25,000 students in about 75 schools each year as part of "Miss Virginia's School Tour," sponsored by the Virginia ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority).

Community Service Initiative: Stronger than the Silence
Talent: Musical Theatre Vocal
A senior at Franklin County High School, she plans to graduate with honors before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction. As the daughter of a disabled veteran, Riddle is deeply grateful for the scholarship opportunities provided through the Miss America Opportunity, which have expanded her educational future.
After navigating her own journey as a sexual assault survivor, Riddle transformed her experience into a mission to protect and empower children. Through her Community Service Initiative, "Stronger Than the Silence," she teaches young people how to identify trusted adults, understand healthy boundaries and find the courage to speak up when they feel unsafe. As the founding Virginia club president, she has helped educate more than 2,000 students over the past three years while partnering with Franklin County Social Services and supporting child abuse awareness efforts through the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center. Her "Safe Hand" coloring sheet encourages children to create a safety plan by identifying five trusted adults they can turn to for help.
A lifelong performer, Riddle's talent is vocal performance. After winning her first talent competition with a musical theatre vocal performance at age 9, she has since appeared in five stage productions, including the lead role in Mean Girls. She also leads praise and worship at her church, holds an IMDb credit and was selected to perform the national anthem at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
In high school, Riddle serves as senior class president, is a varsity cheerleader, was inducted into the National Honor Society and received the AP Biology Award. She stays active through en pointe ballet, cheer conditioning and an annual 5K benefiting the Roanoke Rescue Mission. She also encourages her peers to prioritize physical and mental wellness through rest, nutrition, exercise and meaningful connections.
Riddle dedicates her Miss America journey to the memory of her grandmother, whose encouragement continues to inspire her. Her goal is to expand "Stronger Than the Silence" by placing her "Safe Hand" coloring sheet in classrooms across Virginia, empowering children with the confidence to identify trusted adults and speak up when they need help.
